The First Post

Why is the first post always the most difficult to write? Uff-da. And yes, I’m originally from Minnesota.

Well, anyways – here we go….

This isn’t my first blog…. the last one focused on my triathlon life. Holy cow…. that seems SO long ago. I raced Ironman before I got sick. I ran – A LOT before my body hit the crapper. I did a lot of stuff before lupus – an autoimmune disorder where one’s body attacks itself – reared it’s ugly head. That being said – I STILL do a lot….just different. In a different capacity with a new outlook on life. Almost dying will do that, I suppose. Finding out that one’s husband was near death in a war zone will ALSO do that. I’ll save that for later, though. In short – we’ve got a lot to be thankful for.

That’s putting it lightly.

But if you’re up for it – follow along on my journey. I used to write – all the time…. and in light of everything that has happened, that part of me fell to the wayside. It’s not a bad thing….but in lieu of all the Big Picture Stuff, I needed a break. A chance to decide that my New Life – one without racing or triathlon – is still worth chronicling. I’m not writing to get sponsors….for my friends….or family…..I’m just writing for ME. And I’ll probably throw in much more photography while I’m at it.

So – I’ll begin with where I left off….. the last post on my old blog focused on a very special photograph.

And with that, my friends – let us begin.

  1. YAY!!! I’m so glad you are blogging again Marit!! 🙂 I missed reading your writing lots. Can’t wait to follow along on your journey and see all your awesome pictures!

  2. Marit, it’s so great to hear from you again. I look forward to following you along life’s journeys. You are an inspiration to me and many others!

  3. Marit!

So glad you’re blogging; I always love catching up on your latest on Facebook; you are such a Renaissance woman and one of my personal heroes. So I can’t wait to follow your blog! I started blogging when I was training for my one and only Ironman, and I liked it so much that I started my own *life* blog and I find it so rewarding… such a great creative outlet and chronicle, and such a great way to share a piece of yourself with the world.

    Big, warm hug from MD,
    Erin

  4. Marit!

So glad you’re blogging! I always love catching up on your life via Facebook and this is an even better way. I started a blog while training for my one and only Ironman, and I enjoyed it so much that I started a *life* blog as well. It’s such a great creative outlet and chronicle of your thoughts, as well as a great way to share a piece of yourself. You’ve always been one of my heroes; you’re such a Renaissance woman and a deeply sensitive soul. I look forward to reading future installments.

    Warm hug from MD,
    Erin

  5. So happy you decided to do this for you. Not only are you an exceptional writer – so yes, I’m selfish, it benefits us, but you’re an exceptional person with lots to share about life, love and perspective. You have a unique story to share that no one else can tell as well as you. You’ll always be setting goals and enjoying the journey, but they don’t have to be triathlon or athletic goals for people to love reading and enjoying you.. they just have to be Marit goals.. of enjoying life and whatever else you want to do!! We love you and I’m so glad you decided to share a bit!! Love you lady.. really I do!! Kim S.

  6. Marit, can’t wait to read all your posts. And the photo caught my eye right off the bat because I can’t wait until I’m capturing my own just like it (of course, I hope Ryan isn’t in a hot dress with boots!). You are an awesome writer and I can’t wait to see what else you have to say…
